The Daily Donut Day 95- Wingnuts German Chocolate Donut

WINGNUTS GERMAN CHOCOLATE DONUT

Donut Myth: German Chocolate is from Germany.

FALSE

German Chocolate in German Chocolate Cake or Donuts does not come from Germany. German is actually a type of chocolate originally developed by, Samuel German, an employee of the Walter Baker & Company Chocolate Manufacturers( www.brands.kraftfoods.com/bakerschocolate) in 1852. Recipes calling for this type of chocolate to make cakes date back to the 1920's in American cook books. Very interesting!

German chocolate is sweeter than semi-sweet chocolate and since it is made with chocolate liquor, sugar, lecithin, and cocoa butter it is also lighter in color. Call it whatever you like, but if it is around me for long, you can call it GONE!

Wingnuts German Chocolate Donut is their Chocolate Frosted Cake Donut(delicious on it's own) topped with German Chocolate and toasted coconut! Das Schmeckt!
(That's German for delicious!)
Stop by Wingnuts at 1207 Mt Hermon Rd in Salisbury(410-546-4780).

EAT HAPPY!
