The Daily Donut Day 60 - Fractured Prune Citrus Snowflake

FRACTURED PRUNE FRIDAY!
Snowflakes in July?!! With the heatwave we have been having this Summer, I think we would all welcome a few snowflakes right about now!
Fractured Prune's CITRUS SNOWFLAKE is a contradiction. The citrus part makes you think of oranges and nice tropical climates, while the snowflake denotes Winter and cold weather. Together though this HOT orange and coconut donut is a winner in any season! The standard hot cake donut from "FP" is coated with a tangy orange glaze, then rolled in fresh coconut shavings. A truly tropical treat that just looks like a snowball!
My local Fractured Prune is at 1303 S Salisbury Blvd(410-546-9899) across from SSU(www.salisbury.edu). Go Gulls! Check out your local "FP" at http://www.fracturedprune.com/.

The Dunkin Donuts Chocolate Frosted Cake Donut has been a classic since day one! The yellow cake with chocolate frosting has always been the favorite of my twin daughters, Emily and Lindsay. It's their favorite birthday cake. This donut is that birthday cake in miniature and a circle of "LOVE." I think I have found your birthday cake for this year girls! My donut came from the "DD" at 908 S Salisbury Blvd in Salisbury, MD(410-749-5999)

The Daily Donut Day 58 - Cappuccino's Fruit Donut

My friend and co-worker at BRF(www.bethanyresortfurnishings.com), Brenda, was lucky enough to visit the Hilton Hotel and Casino(www.hiltonac.com) in Atlantic City, NJ(www.cityofatlanticcity.org) recently. Hopefully she was lucky in the casino too! I do know she found something inside the casino that reminded her of me!
Cappuccino's is a coffee and espresso bar inside the Hilton with a great name! They have been "accinofied!" See Donut Day50. Guess what- Cappuccino's is also a bake shop and they sell DONUTS!

 JACKPOT!
These yeast raised donuts are big and fluffy. They are completely topped with thick gooey vanilla icing and the hole is filled with fruit! Shown are cherry and apple filled donuts and I can tell you I did eat them both! Brenda went to Atlantic City, but I think I was the one who cashed in! Thanks Brenda, you are always a winner with me!

SAD NEWS FROM BRF:
One of our favorites at BRF, Sunny, decided to leave this week to take early retirement(if you can believe that) and pursue other interests. We will all miss the "Sunshine" she brought to our family at BRF and we wish her "Good Luck and Great Donuts!" Sunny was so well loved at BRF she got THREE cakes for her send off! I guess we are all trying to fatten her up!

All that and a dozen donuts!

The Daily Donut Day 57- Wingnuts Blueberry Crumb Donut

Blueberries have been around longer than America. It is said dried blueberries helped the Pilgrims survive the first harsh winter in the colonies. Native Americans provided the Pilgrims with dried "star berries", so named for the small crown on each berry, to help fight illness. The dried blueberries were cooked in a corn cake, the first blueberry donut!
Almost 400 years later, Wingnuts has greatly improved on the original blueberry corn cake! The Wingnuts Blueberry Crumb Donut is heavy with delicious blueberry filling. The yeast raised donut is light, soft, and chewy. Vanilla icing with cinnamon sugar crumbles tops this historic donut. This is the donut the Pilgrims would have made if they had the ingredients and Wingnut! Stop by Wingnuts at 1207 Mt. Hermon Rd in Salisbury(410-546-4780) to try one of these blueberry beauties.

The Daily Donut Day 56- Dunkin Donuts Chocolate Frosted

One of Dunkin Donuts most popular most popular donuts is the Chocolate Frosted yeast raised donut!

This donut is just as good as it looks! The yeast raised cake donut is BIG and soft with just the right amount of chocolate frosting! You can easily identify this as a "DD" donut by the pink and orange sprinkles! My donut was made by the Dunkin Donuts shop at 908 S Salisbury Blvd(410-749-5999) in Salisbury, MD, but you can check out your local "DD" at www.dunkindonuts.com.

The Daily Donut Day 55- Krispy Kreme Lemon/Vanilla Creme

The Krispy Kreme Donut has become the donut to whom all other donuts are compared. The fresh dough and sweet glaze on the hot, fresh donut creates a taste that is instantly recognized. Find your local Krispy Kreme at http://www.krispykreme.com/.

The Vanilla/Lemon Filled Glazed Donut is a perfect example of how Krispy Kreme gets it right! The donut is completely enrobed with the sweet honey glaze, while the vanilla filling has just the slightest hint of lemon to remind you that it is still Summer. Cool and sweet! The yeast raised cake is as always from "KK" soft and fresh!

My donuts came from the new Harris Teeter Food Market(302-539-7370) at 695 Bethany Loop at the Salt Pond(http://www.saltpondgolf.com/) in Bethany Beach. Check them out at http://www.harristeeter.com/. Harris Teeter like Krispy Kreme is based in North Carolina, so they always stock a selection of donuts from their sister company! Thanks Teeter's.

The Daily Donut Day 54- Bayville Bakery Angel Creme

My boss, Kimmerly, the owner of BRF(http://www.bethanyresortfurnishings.com/) got stuck in traffic on her way to work today. Now, normally that would be a bad thing, but today it turned out to be a good thing for me! When Kim changed her route, she decided to stop in to visit the bakery that recently moved in next to her friend Dawn's restaurant Smitty Mcgee's(http://www.smittymcgees.com/) in Fenwick Island, DE.
Bayville Bakery(302-436-2220) is located at 37238 Lighthouse Rd in Selbyville, De, but really what we locals consider Fenwick Island. Check them out at http://www.facebook.com/ . Now for the donut!

VANILLA ANGEL CREME DONUT
Love at first sight! I knew, just by looking, this donut and I were were at the beginning of a long sweet relationship! The yeast donut is BIG and soft, there is the just the right amount of powdered sugar on top, and the vanilla angel creme fits its name. I think it must have been made by angels. Heavenly! Thank you Jelena & Julia!
Special thanks to Kim for changing her route today. Sorry about the traffic, but It worked out great for me! Kim and her dancing partner, Wayne, recently won the Delmarva Dancing with the Stars(http://www.dancingwithdelmarvastars.com/) competition to benefit The Wellness Community of Delmarva(www.thewellnesscommunity.org/delmarva) supporting cancer fighters on the Eastern Shore. We may all need to sign up next year to dance off these donuts!

FRACTURED PRUNE FRIDAY!
Everyone knows the Summertime favorite Creamsicle  Popsicle. The cool orange outside and the soft vanilla inside! Cold and good! Check them out at http://www.popsicle.com/.

What if you could have all that same delicious flavor as a HOT donut!?
FRACTURED PRUNE has done it! The hot, fresh melt in your mouth cake donut is first dipped in powdered sugar, then coated with an orange glaze! That is what I am taking about! My donut was sooo hot, when the orange glaze was applied, the powdered sugar melted right into the donut! Super good and tasty!
My Creamsicle Donut came from the Fractured Prune shop at 1303 S. Salisbury Blvd in Salisbury(410-546-9899). Check out your local "Prune" at http://www.fracturedprune.com/.

The Daily Donut Day 52- WaWa Vanilla Iced Cruller

Got a surprise on my desk at Bethany Resort Furnishings(www.bethanyresortfurnishings.com) yesterday afternoon. This WaWa Vanilla Iced Cruller magically appeared sometime after lunch. After a little investigating, I found out my friend and co-worker, Rachel, had spotted this little beauty at the WaWa at 774 Garfield Parkway in Bethany(302-537-2663). The donuts just fly out of this busy WaWa near the beach! A cruller is not like any other donut. The name comes from the French word "crulle"- to curl, and these donuts have all those little curls to hold the glaze and, in this case, vanilla icing. YUM! Find your local WaWa at www.wawa.com.
Little Miss Rachel is the person that makes the sales floor look good at BRF, and she does an awesome job! She came back to the area after spending several years working for the Sight & Sound Theater(http://www.sight-sound.com/) in Lancaster, Pa(www.cityoflancasterpa.com) and we are lucky to have her at BRF. Thanks for all you do Rach and for the donut!

The Daily Donut day 51- Hockers/G&E Strawberry Filled

Hockers/G&E Grocery is around the corner from my work. There are two locations, one on Rt26 in Clarksville, DE, and the original G&E at 30244 Cedar Neck Rd in Oceanview, DE(302-539-9662). Both locations sell gas and have Hardware stores right next to the Grocery. Now that is full service! The above donut is from the Cedar Neck Rd location where they make fresh donuts everyday! The yeast raised donuts are always fresh and this powdered sugared beauty has extra strawberry jelly inside. My beard got even whiter as I ate this donut, with a little bit of strawberry mixed in too! When you eat this donut, you will be wiping your chin!

The Hockers are Mr. Gerald and Mrs. Elizabeth. Their daughter is the country music singer, Beth Cayhall. You can check her out at http://www.bethcayhall.com/. A couple of the songs on Beth's latest CD were written by our own OC singer/songwriter "Butter" of the "Trailer Choir." You can "Rock the Beer Gut" at http://www.trailerchoir.com/.

Hey Butter, Can you do a version for me called, "Rocking the Donut Gut?"

The Daily Donut Day 50- What Is A Keithaccino?

keith*a*cci*no n - A hot beverage with coffee and ice cream. ( see also Keith Nichols and "ways of life")

Keithacinno IS my nickname, but it is also the coffee drink that gave me this name and here is how you make one:

STEP 1: Start off with a pot of fresh hot coffee. I prefer Zabars Blend from Zabars in NYC(http://www.zabars.com/) when I can get it. Good coffee!

STEP 2: Scoop out a nice big scoop of your favorite ice cream. For the purpose of this demonstration, I am using chocolate marshmallow swirl ice cream to create my Smores Keithaccino. Greens Ice Cream(http://www.greensicecream.com/) makes a great Chocolate Marshmallow.

STEP 3: Drop the scoop of ice cream into your favorite coffee mug and fill with hot coffee. I have added Graham Crackers(http://www.nabiscoworld.com/) because I am making the Smores Keithaccino(coffee, chocolate marshmallow ice cream, and graham crackers). Good Stuff!

STEP 4: Add your donut! Today's donut is the standard cake donut from my local Super Giant(http://www.giantfood.com/) at 751 S. Salisbury Blvd. in Salisbury(410-742-1343). This donut is perfect for dunking into your Keithaccino and doubles as a spoon!
Congratulations! You have made a Keithaccino, but remember, Keithaccino is not just a name or a coffee drink! Your Accino is a way of life! Your wild and crazy alter-ego! It is a way of grabbing life by the ears and saying- "Hey Bud, Let's party!" You must embrace your inner "accino!" Here is how:

Your Name(write your name) + "accino" = "your accino"

You may be Steveaccino, Mikeaccino, Susieaccino, or Chrisaccino! Whatever "accino" you are, you must embrace your inner "accino" and now go forth and spread the word!
You have been "ACCINOFIED!"

The Daily Donut Day 49 - Wingnuts French Apple

The French word for apple is "pomme". A French Apple Donut is usually a yeast raised donut with apple filling and topped with vanilla icing. Wingnut's Donuts has one of the best soft, somewhat chewy, doughnuts out there right now. Combine the taste of the donut with the apple filling and the sweet vanilla topping and you will reach "Donut Heaven!" Sweet, soft, donut goodness! Wingnuts Donuts Shop is located at 1207 Mt. Hermon Rd in Salisbury(410-546-4780). If you have never been to Wingnuts, it is worth the trip. Stop by and try a "Pomme Donut!"

The Daily Donut Day 48- Ocean City Donut Derby 2010

OC DONUT DERBY 2010

The "boys" are at it again! As you may recognize from previous blogs, my brothers are, "The Don" Poso, "T-Dawg Timmons, "Gravy"(the teacher) Gravenor, and me- "Keithaccino." Once a Summer we all head to West Ocean City, Md to the Grand Prix Family Go-Cart Track(http://www.grandprixoc.com/) as part of the celebrations of the Summer birthdays. Poso turned 46 on June 13th(see Donut Day 14) and Timmons joined in his oldness on July 6th(see Donut Day 36). I am still the youngest and won't catch them until next year!
Race Time 7:30 PM. The sign says it all. We could write a book about what we think we know about Go-Cart racing, but tonight Gravy is ready to teach us all a lesson. School is in!

The track was ready. The cars were ready, but first- the DONUTS!

Today's donut is  from The Oceans Market at 14107 Coastal Hwy in Ocean City(410) 250-1927. This place has it all! They are a full service Exxon(http://www.exxon.com/) Convenience Store and along with donuts, they also sell beer and wine! That's what I'm talking about! This country does not have enough BEER/WINE&DONUT shops!
The Vanilla Glazed Cake Donut is race ready! Rich vanilla frosting in every bite and the cake donut has that good home made taste! Great job Oceans Market!
Time to eat the donuts!

Jeannie Faye(Mrs. T-Dawg), Gravy, and T-Dawg show off their donut eating skills, while I- having more experience- go "no handsies!"

When the Poso's arrived the real "Donut Love" began!

The Posos, Gravenors and Timmons all share a donut before the racing begins. Gentlemen start your engines!

The tracks were slick and the drivers sweaty, but an AWESOME time was had by all!
Another great thing about donuts! Dunking and Driving is perfectly OK!
