The Daily Donut Day 1- Krispy Kreme Trip

The donut pictured above is the one that started it all for me. I was a young furniture buyer visiting the furniture market in High Point, NC. I did not know what to expect when I first laid eyes on the famous"Hot Donuts Now" sign. If you have never experienced the light, melt in your mouth, sweetness of a fresh, hot glazed Krispy Kreme, I say you have not truly lived !! I frequented the Greensboro Battleground Rd Krispy Kreme throughout years of furniture markets and have visited the original store in Winston Salem, NC. Highly recommend! My personal record is 16 hot glazed during the 20 minute ride between Greensboro and High Point. They go down sooo fast and good, it is easy to lose count.

Since the original glazed Krispy Kreme was my first donut love, we decided to start the 365 days of donuts with that very donut. This morning Melissa, Shelby, and I packed up the car and headed for the Rockville Krispy Kreme factory in Rockville, MD. We decided to stop by Silver Springs to surprise Grandma Barbara and invite her along on our expedition because who wouldn't want to go on a donut hunt if invited? I will be adding more pictures to this blog of the days events, but I can tell you day 1 of 365 days of donuts was a great success. We were able to witness the making of Krispy Kremes on the famous donut conveyor and sample the glazed along with a few other Krispy Kreme donuts that may be featured in future blogs. If you have a Krispy Kreme store in your area, stop in sometime when you see that "Hot Donuts Now" sign. You will not be disappointed!! I should also mention I own a few shares of Krispy Kreme stock I purchased several years ago on a whim. The stock has increased in value and this only adds to my love for the donuts.
