The Daily Donut Day 39- Fractured Prune Black Forest Donut

            FRACTURED PRUNE FRIDAY!

Feelin Hot, Hot, Hot! That is the only way the donuts come from Fractured Prune. The above donut is a Black Forest Donut based on the Black Forest cake(www.blackforest-tourism.com), we all know and love! Fractured Prune's Black forest is the standard hot fresh made cake donut with raspberry glaze, coconut, and mini chocolate chips! The mini chocolate chips are just the right "meltiness" and combined with the raspberry glaze this donut is like eating a giant chocolate covered cherry or raspberry in this case! I'm not sure who comes up with all of these combinations for Fractured Prune, but they are certified "GENIUS!"
This donut was created at the Fractured Prune at 1303 S. Salisbury Blvd(410-546-9899), but you can check out your local "FP" at www.fracturedprune.com.

The Daily Donut Day 38- Giant Chocolate Sour Creme

Giant Foods(www.giantfood.com)  has an excellent Bake Shop in each of their locations! The Bake Shop makes all kinds of cakes, pies, muffins, and these great donuts! Giant was always "Super Giant" when I was a kid. I can't remember if that was the name or just what everyone called the grocery store. After eating this chocolate sour creme donut with vanilla glaze icing, I think they are still SUPER!
The chocolate sour creme cake reminds me of my favorite cake, devils food with vanilla icing. It is like a mini devils food cake with a hole in the middle. Super Giant, next time if you want to put even more icing on top- I wouldn't be mad at you!

The Daily Donut Day 37- Donuts on the High Seas

My friend and co-worker at BRF(www.bethanyresortfurnishings.com), Hilde and her family are moving to Norway. We decided to take a cruise from Fishtales(www.ocfishtales.com) at 22nd St in Ocean City Bayside through the inlet and down the beach to see them off.
Beautiful evening on the bay!
We were almost boarded by pirates, but the Judith M(www.judithmfishing.com) was to speedy! They couldn't catch us!
Flipper and friends heard donuts were being served!
Ocean City, Maryland(www.ococean.com) if you have never been to "The Boardwalk", you should!
Hilde and her daughter, Caitlin, enjoyed a donut. Caitlin actually lost a tooth while eating her donut! Okay, Tooth Fairy, more money for donuts!
I enjoyed a Dunkin Donuts Blueberry Cake donut from the Dunkin Donuts(www.dunkindonuts.com) shop at 126TH street in Ocean City(410-213-1186). This delicious blueberry donut is full of anti-oxidants and won't get soggy in the salt air of an ocean cruise. They are also just the right size and weight to throw at attacking pirates, but I would never do that!

The Daily Donut Day 36- T-Dog's Birthday

As you may know, I have three  "brothers" that I have known my entire life and believe it or not we are all still friends(see Donut Day 14). They are as shown above on Gravy's 40th birthday(a long time ago) Donald "The Don" Poso, Harvey Keith "T-Dog" Timmons, Mark "Gravy" Gravenor, and Me "Keithaccino". Although since I am the youngest and most annoying, I have been called many other names by these guys over the years.
July 6th is Timmons' birthday. I do not remember a time when he wasn't my neighbor and best friend. The Timmons family moved in, a house down, when we were around two years old. That means we have been getting each other in and out of trouble for over 40 years. Man, we ARE old! T-Dog is six months older than I so he has always been "Big Keith" and I am "Little Keith". Yes, our families still call us that when referring to each of us. In the above picture, Timmons was showing his support at my Tiny Tot graduation, but by the look of the picture, I think he was playing a Jazz concert later. Stylin!
Believe it or not, Timmons has never been a big fan of sweets. Probably because I ate them all when we were kids. He does enjoy the Chocolate Banana cake his Mom makes for him each year. It IS delicious!(Save me a piece, man!) The above donut is the Entenmann's Plain(www.entenmannsdirect.com).  We ate many of these guys over the years- right out of the box! This guy has only 180 calories, so you can eat a couple if you like.
Happy Birthday T-Dog! Love you, Man!

The Daily Donut Day 35- Grilled Wingnuts Glazed

                                      DONUTS ON THE BARBIE!

Summertime is grilling time. I just got a new tank for my gas grill. A full propane tank leads to grill experimentation. When you are not sure how much gas you have in your tank, you tend to grill it and go. Nothing is more discouraging than seeing your flame die out before your burgers are done. So, with the knowledge of a full propane tank to work with, I decided to gill my Wingnuts delicious Honey Glazed donut. Wingnuts is located at 1207 Mt. Hermon Rd(410-546-4780) and their Honey Glaze Donut is sooo good fresh you just can't stop at one!

Once my donut halves were thoroughly grilled, I added Breyers Overload! Waffle Cone Ice Cream(www.breyers.com), some fresh watermelon chunks, and a drizzle of Carolans Irish Creme(www.carolans.ie). There is no better way to eat a donut on a hot Summer day! Try it you'll like it! EAT HAPPY!

The Daily Donut Day 34- Happy Independence Day!

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

I hold this truth to be self-evident , that all donuts are NOT created equal, that they are endowed by their creators with certain delicious attributes, that among these are soft fresh dough, sweet glaze, and delicious creamy fillings. It is my unalienable right to eat as many of these creations as often as I possibly can! Amen!
The above donuts are from WaWa(www.wawa.com). These star shaped donuts with vanilla glaze and red, white, and blue sprinkles are they perfect way to celebrate Independence Day. Patriotic pastries!
Emily came over for a cook-out with Melissa, Shelby and I. We even had our own fireworks!
Thanks for the donuts Debbie, and Happy Birthday Aunt Susan!

The Daily Donut Day 33- Foxy Roxy's Birthday

Wow! Was everyone I know born this time of year? Just more reason to eat more donuts!
My friend and co-worker, Roxy, is an interior designer at BRF(http://www.bethanyresortfurnishings.com/), so for her birthday I wanted to pick a more artistic donut. I think this Wingnut's Marble Glazed fits the bill. This donut is a work of Art! The contrast of the dark chocolate drizzle against the white vanilla glaze makes this donut look as if it is made of porcelain. I am glad it is not, because this yeast raised donut has sweet soft goodness in every bite! Visit Wingnut's Donuts at 1207 Mt Hermon Rd in Salisbury(410-546-4780). I have timed my visits so I arrive just as the fresh donuts are being placed in the case! Lucky? I think not!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROX!

In honor of Roxy's birthday I have scoured the Internet and found furniture and accessories inspired by donuts! Enjoy!

Donut dining table and chandelier.
Donut phone, rug, and lamp EAT HAPPY! But don't eat the furniture!

The Daily Donut Day 32- Alicia Mae's Birthday

FRACTURED PRUNE FRIDAY!

Anyone recognize this cherubic youngster? This little angel is my friend Alicia Mae Gravenor, wife of my buddy Mark(Gravy), who celebrated her BIG 40 birthday on Friday. We had a crowd of friends and family ready to surprise Alicia at The Olive Garden(www.olivegarden.com) at 2316 N Salisbury Blvd by the Centre at Salisbury. How can you go wrong with good friends, good food, wine, birthday cake, AND donuts?!!
Since it is Fractured Prune Friday, I gave Alicia her choice of any Fractured Prune donut. She chose the local favorite O.C Sand Donut. This is the standard cake donut with a honey glaze and topped with cinnamon sugar. If real O.C. sand tasted this good, we would need even more beach replenishment. I think Alicia enjoyed her donut, as you can see in the above picture. That is her dad, Nick, looking on from behind.
Wow! Someone call the fire department or help Alicia blow these candles out before they set off the sprinklers in this place!
T-Dog and Gravy(Alicia's lucky husband). Look out T-Dog your b-day is next and your already past the big 40!

Happy Birthday Alicia!! Remember , you deserve extra credit, because every year with Mark is like 10 normal years! We love you Girlie!

The Daily Donut Day 31- Bay Country Bakery Strawberry Filled

Sorry for the delay. Internet issues, but I have still been eating the donuts. Thanks!

WEIGHT UPDATE: On July 1st I weighed in at 164lbs. That means after 30 days and 30 plus donuts, I actually lost 5lbs. I attribute the weight loss to the recent heat and working outside. We will see how I do this fall as things cool off.

I must admit, I have been thinking about this donut ever since it first caught my eye in the donut case at Bay Country Bakery(see Donut Day29) outside Cambridge, MD. This yeast raised donut with the shiny vanilla topping and RED strawberry jam filling is a eye catcher! This donut just looks fresh and refreshing. the strawberry jam even has little strawberry seeds inside. I am not 100% positive, but I would bet it is homemade!

If you are driving on Rt50 East of Cambridge, MD and see this giant donut on a roof, hit the brakes and pull in to Bay Country Bakery! You will not be disappointed. Donuts, sandwiches on fresh baked bread, even wedding cakes await you in this new version of the old time bake shop. Check them out at www.baycountrybakery.com or call 410-228-9111.
